ORCHESTRA BEGINNING ORCHESTRA GUITAR (ALL LEVEL)
Open to students entering grades 6-10. Open to students entering grades 4-6. Open to students of any age.
Must have one or more years playing experience. No playing experience required. All levels of players will be accommodated.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The purpose of the camp is to provide each student an enriching summer experience and performance opportunity. The camp will feature an ensemble rehearsal, individual instrument sectionals, and daily performances by local ensembles. Students will be grouped according to their level of proficiency and experience. The final concert will be presented at the Lubbock Juneteenth celebration in Mackenzie Park.
APPLICATION: Application and payment deadline is May 22, 2009. Please be advised that there are a limited number of spaces for each instrument, so please submit applications early. Anyone applying after the deadline will be placed in the program if there are vacancies. If there are no vacancies, the applicant will be placed on a waiting list. Applications may be mailed or submitted directly to one of the teachers listed above.
LOCATION: The camp will be hosted by the Atkins Middle School Fine Arts Department. Atkins Middle School is located at 5401 Avenue U, Lubbock, TX 79412. Our final concert will be at Mackenzie Park on Saturday, June 20, 2009 (time TBA).
TUITION: Tuition for the workshop will be $50 per student. Checks may be made payable to the Atkins Middle School Orchestra. Students from Atkins Middle School receive a special discounted rate; please contact Theresa Britt for more information. Payment is due by May 22, 2009.
STUDENTS NEED TO BRING: Instruments, pencils, and a good attitude to learn. Please check the appropriate box on the application if you are interested in using a violin, viola, cello or bass from Atkins Middle School for the workshop.
ATTENDANCE: Attendance on each day of the camp is required in order for students to be allowed to participate in the final concert. In case of illness, you must notify Camp Director, Theresa Britt at 549-2483 prior to the start of class that day. No refunds will be made for missed classes.
FINAL CONCERT: A final concert will be presented on Saturday June 20th (time TBA). All students, faculty and staff will perform. Parents and friends are invited to attend. Reduced price tickets to Joyland will be available after the performance. Tickets may be purchased that day at Joyland.
MEDICAL: Please complete the medical release form in this application packet. No nurse will be on staff during the time of the workshop.
LUNCH: Students may bring a sack lunch for each day. On certain days, lunches may be provided by sponsors. More information about special lunches will be announced at a later date.
TRANSPORTATION: If you are in need of transportation from a location in the Lubbock area, please contact us as soon as possible. If enough interest is expressed, we may be able to arrange transportation through Durham Transportation.
